Bookkeeping Tips to get you through the year

• If you reconcile your Back recs, keep it up to date before you go away for Christmas.
• GST for the Oct/Nov period is not due for payment until the 15th Jan 2020 (it would normally be due on the 28th Dec). Red Office opts to finalise all GST returns prior to close at Christmas time. 
• If there is a payment to be made for the GST return, it can be set up in advance but you need to note it for cashflow purposes.
• Make a note of any payroll due on a public holiday so it can be set up to run earlier.

• Make an estimation of hours and finalise the payroll if you are going away for a break, payments can be set up for the relevant days, and hours can be adjusted on return from holiday.
• Attach invoices/receipts to payment transactions or send them to Xero inbox enabling your bookkeeper to attach them to transactions.
• If you have a new person starting, someone leaving, change in pay etc. please let your payroll person know as soon as possible.
• If you are not sure how to do something in Xero, please ask.
• Put the invoice number on the bank rec that you're paying and send a remittance for any bulk payments.
